Happy Birthday to our 40th President of The United States – Ronald Reagan.
The State of Minnesota has the honor of being the only State not to go for Reagan in the 1984 election. This vintage t-shirt – available at ebay, recognizes Minnesota’s individualism in the 1984 election
Recognizing birthdays from a few of my fellow Gen Xers.
Dave Matthews – Born 1967. Here’s the DMB performing at Woodstock ’99. Although I’ve always like some of his music, I never listened to much of his stuff. However, this is one of my favorite live performances from the 1990’s.
E Street Band guitarist “Little Steven” Van Zandt marries Maureen Santora at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Little Richard officiates; Bruce Springsteen is the best man; Percy Sledge sings “When A Man Loves A Woman” during the reception.

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 13,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 3 Film Festivals
After a few days of watching some classic 1980’s movies I decided it was time for another poll. This poll has Scott Howard; The Wolf (Teen Wolf) vs Ronnie Miller (Can’t Buy Me Love). It’s time for a dance off! Can Ronnie Miller’s African Anteater Ritual match Scott Howard doing The Big Bad Wolf?

The Maine Guides were a minor league affiliate to the Cleveland Indians back in the early 1980s. In 1988, they became the Maine Phillies. The team was moved to Pennsylvania in 1989.
They played their home games in Old Orchard Beach (OOB). When baseball was no longer being played at ‘the ball park’, it became a spot for outdoor concerts for many bands of the era. I personally saw Aerosmith, Tesla and Motley Crue all perform at the ballpark one summer. Minor Legue baseball returned to Maine in 1994 when Portland became the home for The Sea Dogs. The Sea Dogs were affiliated with the Florida Marlins until 2003 when they became part of the Boston Red Sox system.
Although I never made it to the ball park in OOB to see The Guides; I remember watching some games with my late grandmother on TV. She loved baseball. I saw the Maine Phillies play a couple times in 1988. Had Tommy Barrett (brother of Red Sox 2B Marty Barrett) sign a baseball for me. To this day, The Maine Guides logo is still one of my favorites.
